Send remote command to store
Remote commands are commands that are sent to your Byte store from the Dashboard, without you having to be at the Byte store itself. Sometimes you may need to perform remote commands to troubleshoot issues the Byte store is experiencing.
You can access remote commands by:
- Navigating to the Stores tab on the left-hand navigation panel
- Select the Byte store you wish to send the command to
- Select Send Command to Store
There are several types of remote commands:
- Reboot Store: This reboot, also known as a “soft” reboot will restart the entire Byte store, the Opt Connect Device (cellular connectivity), and the tablet, restarting all services. Reboots are appropriate for hardware issues and can take up to 2 minutes to complete.
- Restart Tablet: This function restarts just the tablet on the kiosk. (Also called the menu screen). This tool is commonly used to help assist in troubleshooting any issues with the tablet screen such as a malfunctioning keyboard or a glitch on the menu screen.
- Screenshot: A screenshot takes a photo of the current screen that is appearing on the tablet menu and emails it to a user-provided email address. This tool can be used to verify the menu is appearing, the tablet appears functional, or to report any error codes appearing on your screen.
- Lockdown: locks the entire Byte store and tablet down and prevents a purchase from being made until it is unlocked using the Remove Lockdown command
- Remove Lockdown: removes the store from lockdown
- Open Door: unlocks the door of the Byte store
- Close Door: locks the door of the Byte store
