A Happy Hour discount allows operators to set a discount for a specific time frame. It allows you to customize the day of the week and time of day, and the discount is advertised on the tablet and online menus to encourage customers to grab the discounted products.
Customers will only receive the discount if they swiped their card once the discount is active. It won't apply to customers who swipe their card 1-2 minutes too early.
What Scenarios Need a Happy Hour Discount?
Weekend closure: For locations that are closed over the weekend, this discount can help you reduce spoilage by the store automatically applying a discount on your products starting on Friday at 2 PM and automatically turning off the discount on Sunday at 8 PM.
Third shift: Hospitals will often add a nightly discount from 10 PM to 4 AM to offer discounted products for their third-shift crew.
Low sales: If you notice a lull in sales during a specific timeframe, for example, from 2 PM to 5 PM on Wednesdays, you can add a discount to apply during that time frame.
How to Set Up a Happy Hour Discount

- Navigate to the Discounts tab
- Select + Add in the top right-hand corner
- Select Discount
- Complete each section accordingly:
- Name: Used as the primary reference to the discount. This name will be visible in the discount CSV export and used to easily search in the table view showing all current and expired discounts
- Value: the amount or percentage you wish to be discounted during the transaction
- Billed to Location: a note field (0–100%) for tracking how much of the discount cost the location is expected to cover. This is for reference only; it does not trigger any actual charge to the location
- Type: select Happy Hour
- Happy Hour Discount Recurrence: used to set your start and end times for each recurrence of this discount. You can be specific with the day of the week and timeframe. You will set it up in the 12-hour frame, and then our system will convert it to a 24-hour frame
- Applies To: used to select products and/or categories eligible for this discount, and which stores it is available in. By default, the discount will be applied to all products, categories, and stores
- Active Dates: sets the date range during which the Happy Hour recurrence schedule is active
- Click Save once completed
How to end a discount:
- Go to the Discounts tab located on the right side of the dashboard
- Click the discount you wish to end
- Press the End Now button you see on the bottom right.
